Cap'n Jazz was a seminal chicago emo/punk band, locally very popular in the early 1990s. Their first 7" record, 'Boys 16-18 Years ... Age of Action' was released on Basil Shadid's Further Beyond Records in 1993. They were able to reach a much wider audience in 1998 (ironically, three years after the band had been disbanded), when Jade Tree Records released 'Analphabetapolothology.' This two-disc set included many live and/or previously unreleased tracks, as well as a re-release of the band's only full-length album, 'Burritos, inspiration point, fork balloon sports, cards in the spokes, automatic biographies, kites, kung fu, trophies, banana peels we've slipped on and egg shells we've tippy toed over.' The line up of the band included Tim Kinsella (vocals); Samuel Zurick (bass guitar); Mike Kinsella (drums, vocals); Victor Villareal (guitar, vocals); and Davey von Bohlen (guitar, vocals).
